Celebrities Threaten to Leave America: Sgt. “Maverick” Gonzalez Says Don’t Let the Door Hit You on the Way Out
It is time for me to go completely off the rails, get political, and opine. Not from my perspective in law enforcement, but as a concerned citizen who is balanced, fair, and well aware of the direction we are headed as a society. We have all seen and heard the Left completely lose their minds, going back to 2016 when Donald Trump won his first election for the presidency. We heard from the democrat politicians first, and some republicans, that began to spew their hate speech and how Democracy itself was under threat because Trump would be a dictator, and then went on to add Nazi, fascist, racist, misogynist, Islamophobe, homophobe, and the list goes on. Once this began to gain traction, the leftist-controlled media reported and spread it far and wide all day, every day, for all to see on their telecasts and periodicals. The attacks were, and continue to be, relentless. This hatred of Trump has become so pervasive and ingrained in a percentage of Americans that it’s been given an unofficial psychiatric name: Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). I’m willing to bet that, like Going-Postal, this term will eventually become official in medical circles and every public building and university will have a Crying Closet. Complimentary tissues included.
After the politicians were well entrenched in their propaganda, we began hearing from those other, well-known and revered Left-Wing segments of our country, Hollywood, the Music Industry, and the Sports World. Yes, I have to throw in some professional athletes in this bunch as well. These folks have attained a vaunted status in our society for starring in TV and movies, composing and singing songs, and performing feats of super-human athletic prowess on the field by leaping tall buildings in a single bound. They’ve made zillions of dollars that we paid for through ticket and record sales, television subscriptions, “Merch,” and have become world-famous, which somehow qualifies them to expound on the state of political affairs and tell us how we should vote and live our lives. NO, IT DOESN’T!
I will point out to those great many citizens who hold these people in such high esteem and can’t seem to wait for the next golden nugget to come out of their mouths that these people are simply here to entertain us. That is it! They are actors portraying other people, usually fictional characters, singing the songs we all enjoy, or performing on the athletic field so that we may have a few of hours of escape from the daily grind. We don’t want to see political grandstanding on news casts, interviews, or award shows, which have become one of the most abused and opportunistic outlets for making political soundbites or speeches, or on the sidelines on Sundays. NO! They are not qualified to tell us how we should live and who we should or shouldn’t support. Those in these fields, not of a left-leaning ideology, have mostly remained silent for fear of being blackballed and not getting any more gigs or record deals in Hollywood, or of being ostracized by teammates and their league’s ownership or governing bodies. Those conservatives who have already made their bones and accumulated insulating wealth speak their minds because they have no fear of the massive retribution that the entertainment and sports industries can and will exact on those not in lock-step with the collective.
When this backlash began in 2016, we had some very famous and influential celebrities begin publicly announcing that they would be leaving the US for Canada and other countries, beginning with one of my favorites, Barbara Streisand. Remember as you continue to read, to keep in mind that for those of us in law enforcement, sarcasm is one of our superpowers. Streisand began the cavalcade of the entertainment world, making similar announcements, and during Trump’s second term, it has become a tsunami of bandwagon jumpers; mixed metaphors, I know. After Streisand came Cher, who in 2023 stated, “I almost got an ulcer last time.” Take some Pepto. After Cher came Rosie O’Donnell, who to her credit, left for Ireland after the second election. I bet they’re happy to have her and her non-binary child. Have a pint or two of Guinness on me, you’ll need it. Then Sharon Stone announced she was considering a house in Italy. Buonasera! You can be neighbors with one of the architects of the coup, George Clooney. Next, Ellen DeGeneres, who again, to her credit, did leave for Jolly Old England with her partner. Let’s see how your dancing and freedom of speech work over there, since people are getting arrested for publicly “offending” others. Then there was singer Miley Cyrus, who said, “My heart is broken into 100,000 pieces.” Really? Sheldon Cooper will offer you a hot beverage. That A-Lister Amy Schumer got in line and proclaimed that she’ll have to change her act, learn Spanish, and move to Spain. Ciao Baby! George Lopez, who shouts La Raza but won’t live in Mexico. Ciao and adios to you, too!
Then the Royal Couple, Meghan and Prince Harry, made headlines when she announced that after burning their “Royal Bridge” as it were, they would not come back to the US until Trump was no longer president and would relocate to Canada instead. Another bastion of free speech, as we’ve come to see. I don’t know what we will do without them. Let’s not forget De Niro and Baldwin, great actors, mind you, who’ve completely gone off the rails with TDS and have made utter fools of themselves. There are countless others who have made promises to leave, including, as of late, Tom Hanks. I have to say, though, that as a movie buff, I’ve immensely enjoyed many of his movies and state that he is probably one of the finest actors of our generation; this was disappointing and unfortunately not surprising. I continue to see the endless postings on social media of one Hollywood Lemming after another say, “I am leaving!!!” Ok, just GO!!!
What everyone needs to understand is that when one of these “Stars” has drawn their proverbial Line-in-the-Sand and threatens to leave America because they “just can’t take it,” it is their very fragile ego that is driving their pronouncement in hopes of their fan base taking to Twitter and begging them, “Please don’t go, we love you!” Those of you who do are misguided if you believe that these people actually give a rat’s-a$$ what you think. They just want the world to see how many followers they have and are delusional as to how self-important they really are. WE DON’T CARE!
When all of this leaving the US crap started in 2016, my buddies and I, mostly retired cops because we now have time to sit around and watch the chaos, and bitch & complain, made an offer to any “celeb” who said they wanted to leave, that we would be happy to help. “MAGA Moving Lines–Where Moving Deranged Celebrities is Our Specialty!” We have tractor-trailers standing by manned and driven by us, so step right up, no appointment necessary, and we’ll leave the light on for ya! Included with your “Celeb Package” are the gas, boxes, and Visas, ready to come to your home, pack you up, and drive your self-absorbed a$$e$ to Canada or Mexico, but I don’t think many will be going South of the Border. And those who want to go overseas, we have reserved shipping containers for all of your belongings that we’ll gladly load for you and take them to the first slow-boat heading anywhere but here. We will also have banners at no extra charge that say Good Bye, Adios, Vamoos, Cheerio, So-Long, Farewell, Bon Voyage, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehen, Sayonara, Arrivederci, Good Riddance, and Do Not-Return to Sender!!!I hope that I’ve made it clear that this is actually how most rational Americans look at the entertainment industry. To reiterate and drive home the point, performers in movies, TV, music, sports, or any other field that we pay to watch are only there to entertain us and not lecture us. You should be able to make your life decisions by yourself or with the help of loved ones and friends, and by educating yourself, and not by listening to people whose very livelihoods depend on your good graces and what you spend at the box office. And one last parting shot at the celebs that believe we want to hear what they think; don’t let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out! ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!! ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!
