When Allies Step Back, America Steps Up

I was scrolling through Instagram and came across posts about our European “allies,” and their refusal to let us overfly their airspace in order to prosecute this war against Iran, and I have been hearing, “It’s not our war!” I decided to comment on when France in 1986, then as now, didn’t allow us to overfly their airspace when President Reagan went after Gaddafi for the Lockerbie bombing. Because of this, several additional air refuelings were necessary, which is extremely dangerous, and we lost two F-111 crews. I commented on this and was summarily attacked by someone going by “Phil1362”. Feel free to look up this faceless, social media-warrior and coward on Instagram and I’ll get into what he/she/they/them said, but let me say this; my article is not an indictment of all the good people of the United Kingdom or Europe that support freedom and the United States, but a reminder to all that seem to have forgotten just what the US means to the free-world. And I write this literally, on the morning that my wife and I are flying out to Scotland for our second visit to the UK. “Slàinte mhath”-“Cheers!”

A Response to “Phil” and the Critics

“Phil,” as we will use this name to describe all of the “haters” both here and abroad, said that England was fighting in France long before we ever became involved. Yes, because you folks in Europe have been at war for 5000 years, and we “twats,” yes, “twats,” have only been around 250. He went on to say that we never won a war on our own. He then used the term “Yanks” in a derogatory manner, but we actually like the moniker. But I do seem to recall a little skirmish around 1776 that began the rise of us “twats,” and yes, with France’s help, we defeated an oppressive monarchy. So, I went down the rabbit hole and posted, but then decided it’s better to write my full response here. Yes, “Phil,” you were there long before us, and a credit to the citizens of Great Britain and the brave members of the Royal Air Force that beat back the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain. They held on until we got involved, but we had to wait because of the neutrality laws in place at the time. President Roosevelt found a workaround with Lend-Lease, which saved both Great Britain and the Soviet Union. Many people don’t know that this program benefited both countries. After Pearl Harbor, we were free to join the fray, and we jumped in with both feet. “Phil,” you probably don’t know this but when Winston Churchill, whom I believe was the Man of the Century, visited the US, he toured Detroit and saw what the US was capable of producing and it was then he commented that the Empire was no longer the “senior partner’ in the effort, and that our industrial might was going to win the war. Another reminder, “Phil,” is that Hitler didn’t want war with the US and knew that when we entered the war, Germany could never win. By the way, “Phil,” did you know, and I’m certain you do not, that Hitler had already picked Apley Hall near Bridgnorth in Shropshire as his personal home in England should the Nazi invasion of your country have been successful. You’re welcome.

A History Many Have Forgotten

I could go on about the history that “Phil” and many in Europe seem to have forgotten, but suffice it to say that England and all of Europe would have either been speaking German or Russian if we hadn’t joined the war and provided the shield of American protection during the Cold War. Again, you’re welcome!

“It’s Not Our War”? Think Again

Now to the cry of “It’s not our war!” Yes, it is you morons, both around the world and to the idiots in our own country. For decades, Iran has been supporting terrorist proxies worldwide, and has been left unabated to develop a nuclear weapons program, aided by our two home-grown appeasers, Obama and Biden, and should they have obtained a nuclear weapon, Israel is gone, and then they would come after the West. Whose the West, you ask? All of Europe and America. And during all of this time, everyone around the world has said, “Someone should do something about Iran,” and no one ever did anything until now! Not President Reagan, whom I admire greatly, nor either President Bush, nor Clinton, nor Obama, nor Biden, nor the leader from any other country.

America Acts—Alone Again

President Trump decides to take action, and he and the US are heavily and viciously attacked and criticized for it. Almost all of Europe has once again decided not to help, but will reap the benefits of what the US does. Cowards! All of you who have denied us the air bases that we paid for, denied overflights through your airspace, and refused to aid in the effort, which makes us ask the question: Why do we have NATO (that most of you don’t pay enough for), and why do we need you at all? NATO survives because of us, not because of you. The European governments, almost all of them, are more concerned with Climate Change than with the real threats, such as Russia, China, Iran, N. Korea, and their terrorist proxies, shall I go on? Ukraine is on your doorstep. Did you forget about that? Of course you did. And who has aided Ukraine the most, not the EU, but the US. Mmm. There are a great many Americans who believe we should get out of NATO and expel the United Nations from our country. I believe that we will remain in NATO, but at the same time, the UN is free to leave because it is completely useless and rarely enforces any of its resolutions. Now, President Trump, who was the only one to have the STONES to do what was necessary about Iran, is condemned for it, in spite of the backlash, has given the world a reason to breathe easier.

Leadership Abroad—and Lack Thereof

Where were your Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, and the other leaders during all of this? You should be ashamed of yourselves for electing him. And before you point the finger, I and millions are ashamed we elected some of our own, but that was corrected in 2024. So don’t tell me that you can handle threats on your own because you can’t. Your navy is a shambles, not because of the personnel but because of your government. It has become so bad that King Charles is coming to the US to visit President Trump and address a joint session of Congress, because not only is it good form to do so, but also because he needs to do some serious damage control because of your PM. So don’t lecture us “Yanks” about how great you are and we can’t win a war on our own. Could you? “Sprechen Sie Deutsch?” Вы говорите по-русски? No German or Russian? Again, you’re welcome.

No More Free Ride

The United States has been providing a blanket of protection to the entire free world, and has been taken advantage of since WWII. No more! Our security now is going to come at a price, monetarily, where all of the NATO members and others will have to pony up and provide military assets when a fight needs to be fought. You don’t get a free ride any longer, “Phil.” But when the next threat is bearing down on the Continent, don’t call 911 and expect us to answer. We’re going fishing! Slàinte mhath!
