The Bee Keeper: How America’s Hive is Under Siege—And Who’s Stepping Up to Defend It

I am a resolute movie buff, and it is said that sometimes movies or art imitate life, and sometimes life imitates art. As you can see in my byline, I sport the nickname “Maverick.” And as you might imagine, it came directly from the original 1986 movie Top Gun. The story behind the name goes back to 1988, when I was transferred from my station after being “at war” with one of my supervisors. At my new assignment, I landed on a squad where all the members had nicknames from Top Gun, based on their personalities, except for the sergeant, who was known as “Pappy,” as in Pappy Boyington from the famed WW II squadron VMF 214. His squad was called the Black Sheep. The squad assigned you your nickname or “call sign,” and they said that since I was in some trouble at my last station and had a reputation for doing things my way,  “You’re Maverick.” The name stuck, and I fit right in.

And so my affinity for all things movies began and grew with time. While I am just a retired cop and not as well-versed in politics as the many folks who opine on the networks, I have my opinions, and I will offer one using a movie analogy. My wife and I just watched the 2024 Jason Statham movie The Bee Keeper. The premise of the movie is a fictional but interesting one. The protagonist, Statham, learns that his landlord, an elderly, retired woman and the one person who “took care of me,” was scammed by internet thieves and lost a charity fund she managed, and because of this, in shame, she killed herself. In true Statham style, he goes on a rampage as an ex-CIA special operative known as The Bee Keeper, a designation given by the agency to someone who protects the hive (the U.S.) and takes down anyone who threatens the sanctity and sovereignty of the country. He kills his way to the top of the criminal food chain, which leads him to the presidency, mmmm. The job of the Bee Keeper is equated to that of the bee in the hive called the Queen Slayer, one of the worker bees that kills the queen when she isn’t producing strong bees for the betterment of the colony.

Let’s take this fictional but fitting concept and apply it to the current state of our country, or colony. For many decades now, there has been a concerted movement by some of the rich and powerful to move the United States away from a capitalistic, free-market republic and turn it towards socialism, where the government controls most of your assets and imposes limits on many freedoms. We have seen this in most of post-war Europe, and it has been disguised in several forms closer to home, i.e., Cuba and Venezuela. After their people bought into it, the bait & switch occurred, and full-blown communism and/or a dictatorship took hold. These are just two examples of the many around the world.

The great empires of the world were not conquered from without, but collapsed from within by movements and groups that had different ideologies from how the country was founded. This is happening right here at home as the “Queen” has been giving birth to subversive drones (the leftists and those that call themselves Democratic Socialists) that have been slowly chipping away at our conservative, free-market beliefs and reshaping the hive (America). 

The “Queen,” in this scenario isn’t one-person per se, but a collective of powerful individuals that have the backing of billions of dollars in order to advance their agenda (the word “progressive” comes to mind). Those of us that have been paying attention can see that this iteration of the Democrat Party isn’t the same as it was decades ago and are attempting to take control of everything we hold dear as Americans. 

It starts with offering to pay for everything (social entitlements) and makes us reliant on the government for most of our needs. Thomas Jefferson said, “The government that can give you everything can take everything away.” That is Step One. Canada comes to mind. Once the government establishes our dependence on them, they will move to, and have been trying quite aggressively, to take away our firearms, regardless of what the Constitution guarantees. Every time there is a major shooting incident, this movement has new life breathed into it, and laws are passed, gun rights are a little further restricted in some states, and they get closer to their goal. If you take away the population’s ability to protect itself, you are left with slaves (worker bees). That’s Step-Two. The indoctrination of our children at all levels of schooling has been taking place for a long time now, and has become especially aggressive at the college level. The current wave of protests on campuses shows us this, and it is becoming worse… Step-Three. 

Now, the most important element to the transformation from a free republic to a government controlled one is the enlistment of the Mainstream Media to bombard us with the leftist agenda and tell us that what we thought we were as a country is wrong, that we are racist, inequitable, not inclusive, etc., etc., and that we should be in lock-step with whatever they feed us. We’ve seen this before in countries around the world, like 1900s Russia and China, 1930s Germany, and for our entire existence as a country, going back to President Ulysses S. Grant, who I believe was the Donald Trump of his time, as the media went after him incessantly. The media has its own ideology and agenda, and if we push back, they target us, and the various control mechanisms inside our government are unleashed, i.e., the IRS, Justice Department, etc. 

We are in post-election, post-inauguration 2025, and the hive has needed a “Queen-Change” for quite some time. But who is the Bee Keeper to restore balance to the hive and protect it from collapse? We could state the obvious and say that Donald Trump is and we would be right, but I think it goes beyond Trump and I offer this; while we can call him the Head Bee Keeper we can call those Americans, the 77,284,118 of us that voted for him and helped win the key states in the electoral vote, Bee Keepers too. We can, and should, call ourselves the Queen Slayers collectively, as President Trump is the appointed Head-Bee Keeper attempting to replace the socialistic queen that has been destroying the hive from within. I say attempting because though we have made great progress in restoring our country, these subversive groups are still undermining and trying to destroy our country at every turn. They are well funded and powerful and won’t go down without a fight.

Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. The only way they can inherit the freedom we have known is if we fight for it, protect it, defend it, and then hand it to them with the well-fought lessons of how they, in their lifetime, must do the same. And if you and I don’t do this, then you and I may well spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it once was like in America when men were free.”

Folks, if we don’t keep fighting to keep what we’ve fought for as a society, and as we celebrate this year’s Memorial Day remembrance, we cannot forget all of those that gave their lives so we can continue to be the America we are, we will lose the hive to something most us do not want, and the Dream will become a nightmare. It’s up to us, The Bee Keepers!
